Australia's most successful Olympian, swimmer Emma McKeon, is ending her sporting career.
"I'm definitely ready for the next part of my life, which I'm looking forward to," said the eight-time world record holder.
McKeon won a total of 14 medals at the 2016, 2021 and 2024 Olympic Games, including six gold medals. In Tokyo alone, the 30-year-old from Wollongong won seven medals - more than any other swimmer at a single Games. This made her one of the most successful athletes in Olympic history.
In 2022, McKeon was the first woman to swim this distance under 50 seconds in the final of the 4x100 m crawl relay race at the Short Course World Championships in Melbourne.
