The Bernese boxer Angelo Peña remained undefeated in his tenth fight as a professional. In the sold-out arena in Gümligen, the soon-to-be 30-year-old local hero won the main fight against Hiroki Hanabus from Japan, who is five years his junior.

The Swiss-Dominican dual national had to go over ten rounds before he prevailed confidently on points. For Peña, it was the biggest fight of his career to date, earning him the WBO Intercontinental title in the super featherweight division. This belt brings him one step closer to his goal of one day becoming world champion and the best in his weight class.

A second title fight with Swiss participation took place at the meeting in Gümligen. Christopher Mouafo, a native of Cameroon who lives in Biel, celebrated a victory on points against Jonniel Laurente from the Philippines after ten rounds. By winning the WBO global lightweight title, Mouafo has taken an important step towards perhaps soon becoming a candidate for a world championship fight.
