The Rapperswil-Jona Lakers have had bad luck with injuries in their defense and have therefore signed defenseman Robert "Bobby" Nardella.
The 28-year-old American, who also has an Italian passport, has signed a contract with the St. Gallen team that runs until the end of the year. There is an option to extend it until the end of the season.
By signing Nardella, who played in Sweden last season, the Lakers are responding to the numerous injuries in their defense. The Swede Jacob Larsson is also out indefinitely due to an upper-body injury.
Two other regular defenders, Emil Djuse and Igor Jelovac, have already been injured - Jelovac will miss around four weeks, Djuse's return is currently uncertain.
End of the season for Biel's Bärtschi
EHC Biel will have to do without Jérémie Bärtschi for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old forward will have to undergo shoulder surgery in the coming week. A return to the ice this season is no longer possible, the club announced.
