Julien Alfred, the Olympic 100m champion, also wins the Diamond League final in this discipline. At 13 degrees Celsius in Brussels, she wins in 10.88 seconds.

The woman from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia achieved a start-to-finish victory. The British athlete Dina Asher-Smith came up at the end. She came within four hundredths of Julien Alfred.

America's world champion Sha'Carri Richardson, who had successfully taken revenge for her Olympic silver medal at Weltklasse Zürich a week ago, did not get into her stride this time (8th place in 11.23). Mujinga Kambundji did not make the trip to Belgium.

Ackeem Blake won the men's race in 9.93 seconds, beating the Americans Christian Coleman and Fred Kerley to the other podium places. This was the first time since Asafa Powell in 2016 that a man from Jamaica had won the Diamond League sprint crown.

The significance of this victory should not be underestimated. Blake now has a personal starting place for the World Championships in Tokyo 2025 and does not have to worry about the trials.
