Several Alpine passes will be closed to traffic from today as the winter break begins. Among those affected are the Klausen Pass and the Furka Pass.

From today, winter closures will come into force on several Alpine passes. The Klausen Pass will be closed to traffic at 4 pm, while the Furka Pass is scheduled to close at 6 pm.
The Susten Pass has already been closed since November 10, according to the Uri Construction Department. On the Bernese side, the road remains open until Obermaad, according to the Bernese cantonal police.
The Nufenen Pass, which connects Valais with Ticino, will also be closed today at 6 p.m., as can be read on the website of the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS).
The Grimsel Pass, which connects the Bernese Oberland with the Valais, will also be closed from 6 p.m. this evening, according to the Bern cantonal police. On the Bernese side, the road will remain passable as far as Guttannen.
The Oberalp Pass and the Gotthard Pass are only passable with winter equipment, according to the Uri Construction Department. The Gotthard is also closed at night from 6 pm to 8 am. Short-term closures due to weather changes are possible at any time on the Oberalp and Gotthard.
At the end of the month, on November 29, the Forcola di Livigno between Italy and Graubünden is expected to close for the winter break, according to the TCS.
