Due to a warning strike, ARD was only able to broadcast its flagship news program "Tagesschau" in Germany with restrictions.

In the 07.30 a.m. edition shown in the first program, for example, spokesman Thorsten Schröder said at the beginning that there were restrictions due to the strike at Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). "We are missing the photos in the background. We ask for your understanding." Before that, news broadcasts were even canceled altogether.

The presenters of the "Morgenmagazin", in whose broadcasting schedule news is normally interspersed, referred to the program cancellation due to the warning strike. The "Tagesschau" is produced in Hamburg by ARD-aktuell, the joint ARD organization. These effects could also be seen on ZDF, as the "Morgenmagazin" is broadcast on both main ARD and ZDF channels. The broadcasters share the production weeks and thus also the costs.

No breakthrough yet

For weeks, there have been repeated program restrictions in public broadcasting due to warning strikes in the ongoing collective bargaining negotiations. Negotiations are currently taking place independently at several ARD stations. There has been no breakthrough so far. Trade unionists have repeatedly called for warning strikes. The state broadcasters have major savings plans for the coming years, leading to a tense situation.
