Three people were injured in a suspected attempt to kill a woman by her partner on Tuesday morning in Lausanne-Malley. One woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The perpetrator was arrested by the police.

The Vaud police headquarters was informed at around 7 a.m. of a violent altercation and shots fired at Chemin de la Prairie in the west of the city of Lausanne, according to the city police. Police patrols initially encountered a first victim who had sought refuge in the Malley-Prairie reception center.

The victim was a 40-year-old Swiss woman living in Lausanne. She had suffered a stab wound to the abdomen and was treated by an ambulance and taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The police found a second victim on the Chemin de la Prairie. The 50-year-old man from Spain, who lives in Lausanne, had injuries to his forearm from a gunshot and a stabbing. He was treated by paramedics and also taken to hospital. A third person, a 45-year-old Swiss national resident in Lausanne, had minor injuries to his thigh.

According to the police, the two men's lives were not in danger. According to initial findings, they had tried to stand between the victim and the perpetrator during the attack.

The suspected perpetrator is a 53-year-old Swiss national resident in Lausanne. He had fled on his bicycle before the police arrived. Thanks to the large police force, the police were able to arrest him quickly in Prilly, it was reported. Around 40 police officers were involved in the operation.
