Even if Saturday starts sunny in some places, the weekend will be a washout due to showers and thunderstorms. Again: Basel and Bern are now expecting the tenth rainy weekend in a row, according to SRF.

The last time it was dry in both cities was on April 27 and 28. In Zurich, this was the case on 11 and 12 May: the city on the Limmat has now had seven wet weekends in a row. The figure for Lucerne is five. "MeteoNews " adds that all months since October have had a sunshine deficit.

Danger of storms

These figures will not change this weekend: It will rain all over the country today. There will also be thunderstorms almost everywhere. The maximum daily temperatures will range from 17 degrees in the Jura to 27 degrees in eastern Switzerland. There is a risk of thunderstorms in central and eastern Switzerland, Valais, Graubünden and Ticino.

On Sunday, it will only remain dry in the west of Switzerland, while Valais, central and eastern Switzerland, Graubünden and Ticino will once again have to reckon with showers and sometimes thunderstorms. Temperatures will fall to highs between 16 degrees in the Jura and 23 degrees in Geneva.

The good news: on Monday, the sun will shine again throughout the country and the mercury will rise above 20 degrees again. Ticino will lead the way at the start of the week with temperatures of up to 28 degrees.
