The Zurich lake crossing is being postponed for a second time: Because the weather is too unstable and the risk of thunderstorms too high, the event will not take place this Wednesday, but on August 21.

The organizers announced on Monday that the risk of thunderstorms made it impossible to hold the lake crossing safely. The postponement to August 21 also means that advance ticket sales will be postponed. It will now open on August 19 at 12 noon.

On the morning of 19 August, the organizers will also decide whether the event can be held at the third attempt. The first possible date was last Wednesday.

For safety reasons, the event will only be held if the weather is fine and stable. In addition, the water temperature in the middle of the lake must be at least 21 degrees. It is currently only 20.4 degrees.

Last year, the crossing was only held on the third possible date in August. Around 8000 swimmers took part. The swimming route leads from the Badi Mythenquai to the Badi Tiefenbrunnen.
