The examination will be carried out by gynecologists from the Breast Center of the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital, as Pink Cube announced on Wednesday. The doctors will also demonstrate how to palpate the breasts themselves and how to detect changes.
According to Pink Cube, Lucerne is one of eight cantons that do not yet offer an organized early detection programme for breast cancer. This means that women aged 50 and over are not yet automatically invited to mammograms without a franchise, as is the case in other cantons.
Last week saw the start of the Pink Cube awareness campaign in Bern. On Friday and Saturday, the "pink cube" will be at the Lucerne wine market. Fridays from 1pm to 7pm, Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. The following week, from September 26 to 28, the Pink Cube will travel to Zurich, from October 18 to 19 to Baden and from October 25 to 26 to Chur. The campaign is organized by the Swiss Cancer League and Europa Donna Switzerland.
