On Monday evening, two people were seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in Roggwil TG. Shortly after 11 p.m., the two motorcyclists crossed into the oncoming lane on the A23 feeder road in the direction of St. Gallen and crashed into a traffic sign.

Both the 38-year-old German and the 35-year-old Swiss woman were taken to hospital by the emergency services with serious injuries, wrote the Thurgau cantonal police in a statement on Tuesday.

It is still unclear which of them was driving the motorcycle. A blood sample and a urine sample were ordered from both of them.

Neither the man nor the woman have a valid driver's license, the statement continued. There was also no insurance cover for the motorcycle.

The accident caused property damage amounting to several thousand francs. The A23 had to be closed for several hours.
