A 60-year-old man was seriously injured and his 53-year-old wife suffered minor injuries in a fire in an attic apartment in Dübendorf on Sunday morning. The twelve occupants of the four-storey apartment building had already fled to safety before the fire department arrived.

The man suffered burn injuries and the woman suffered smoke inhalation, according to the Zurich cantonal police. The injured man was taken to hospital by ambulance. The woman received medical treatment at the scene. The couple's adult daughters were unharmed.
The fire department was able to prevent the fire from spreading to other apartments in the house. The other residents were able to return to their apartments after the firefighting work. The cantonal police estimated the damage to the attic apartment at over one hundred thousand francs. It is uninhabitable.
