The Säntis suspension railroad has once again announced the world's largest Swiss flag for the national holiday. The 80 by 80 meter flag is to be unfurled on 31 July. Last year, the event could not take place due to unstable weather and strong winds.

Despite the current unstable summer weather, those responsible for the Säntis suspension railroad hope to be able to unfurl the giant flag on July 31 at 10.30 a.m., they wrote in a press release on Friday.

The PR campaign has been taking place for years to mark the national holiday on August 1. When the weather is fine, the flag can be seen not only from Schwägalp, but also from far and wide in Eastern Switzerland. On July 31, 2009, rope access technicians unfurled an oversized Swiss flag on the north face of Eastern Switzerland's local mountain for the first time.
