The social insurance system in the canton of Schwyz is to be reorganized. The cantonal government is proposing to merge the compensation office, the disability insurance office and the family compensation office into a "Schwyz Social Insurance Institution".

The State Chancellery provided information on Thursday about the planned total revision of the relevant law. The reason for this is the modernization of AHV supervision decided by the federal government, it announced.

One of the changes at federal level is that the compensation fund, IV office and family compensation fund no longer have to be run as separate public-law institutions. A single public-law institution, in which the social insurance funds are then managed as departments, is now sufficient.

The Schwyz cantonal government therefore wants to create a cantonal social insurance institution for the tasks of the compensation fund, the IV office and the family compensation fund. This would allow the structures to be streamlined, it announced.

Today, the three social insurance funds in the canton of Schwyz are organized as independent public-law institutions. However, they are already managed by the same people.
