Tourism Sattel-Hochstuckli revolving gondola lift temporarily out of service

At the start of the school summer vacation, the Sattel-Hochstuckli revolving gondola lift in Central Switzerland had to temporarily suspend operations. The gondolas are expected to be at a standstill for around a week.

The reason for this is imminent bearing damage to the cable sheave, as the lift operators announced on Thursday. The bearing should have been replaced during the regular overhaul in the fall. However, it has now become apparent that it may not last that long, they said.

The decision to interrupt operations was intended to avoid an unplanned shutdown of the system and further damage. Operations will resume on July 19 or 20, depending on how the work progresses. The railroad operators referred to their website for further details.
