Psychiatrische Dienste Glarus AG, a company with an integrated psychiatric-psychotherapeutic service, was founded in Glarnerland on the initiative of the canton. It is tasked with providing psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care for the population and meeting the increasing challenges in this area.

Three specialist institutions are involved in Psychiatrische Dienste Glarus AG (PDGL), as the canton of Glarus announced on Thursday. The Glarnerland Counseling and Therapy Center, the Glarus Cantonal Hospital and the Grisons Psychiatric Services (PDGR) are pooling their expertise in the new joint company.

The cantonal hospital brings inpatient psychiatry, the PDGR the general psychiatric day clinic Glarus and the counseling center the outpatient psychotherapeutic care into the joint company. The child and adolescent psychiatric service will also be integrated.

All three institutions have an equal share in the new company. PDGL will receive a new comprehensive service mandate from the canton and will commence operations from July 2025.

The canton of Glarus is supporting the establishment of PDGL with a contribution of CHF 450,000 and an interest-free loan of CHF 2.2 million. As part of the service agreement, it also makes an annual lump-sum contribution of CHF 840,000 towards the uncovered costs of outpatient counseling and child and adolescent psychiatry. It also pays 55% of the remuneration for treatment in the day clinic and inpatient psychiatry.
