Municipal elections AG The people of Aargau elect municipal councillors and parliaments next year

Next year, the voters of Aargau will elect the members of the municipal council in their municipality for the 2026/2029 term of office. The members of the ten residents' councils (municipal parliaments) will also be newly elected.

The elections will take place from May 18 to December 21, 2025, following a decision by the cantonal government, as was reported in a press release in the "Official Gazette of the Canton of Aargau" on Friday. In the municipalities and cities, the people will also elect the members of the finance commission, tax commission and vote counters.

In the canton of Aargau, ten towns and municipalities have residents' councils. These are Aarau, Baden, Brugg, Buchs, Lenzburg, Obersiggenthal, Wettingen, Windisch, Wohlen and Zofingen.
