The Aarau hospitals are to receive better bus connections. To promote the use of public transport, Aarau City Council wants to introduce a quarter-hourly service between the train station and Aarau Cantonal Hospital from the 2025 timetable change.

In order to achieve the transport, energy and climate policy goals, a significantly greater proportion of mobility demand must be met by public transport, cycling or walking in future, as the city council writes in a press release published on Tuesday.

Today, the Aarau Cantonal Hospital (KSA) is only connected to Aarau train station every 30 minutes, which is why there are sometimes long waiting times for train connections.

With an additional bus, a daily quarter-hourly service from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. is to be introduced from December 2025, making public transport more attractive, writes the city council. Clarifications are also underway to expand connections to the Schachen area with leisure facilities and the Hirslanden private clinic, according to the statement.

The city will contribute CHF 506,000 towards the costs of operation from 2025 to 2028. The residents' council, the city parliament of Aarau, will decide on this.
