The municipal council of Hitzkirch LU is calling for a partial revision of the Lindenberg wind farm project in the neighboring municipality of Beinwil AG. The habitat on and around the Lindenberg must be better protected.

Three wind turbines almost 230 meters high are to be erected on the Lindenberg in Beinwil to produce electricity. The wind farm is located directly on the border with the canton of Lucerne and the municipality of Hitzkirch LU.

The municipal council of Hitzkirch announced on Tuesday that it had been intensively involved with the project during the public consultation. Although the public consultation files were sound in terms of spatial planning and environmental law, there were shortcomings and it had raised an objection. The wind farm project must be revised so that the habitat on and around the Lindenberg is affected as little as possible.

National interest

The municipal council is demanding that the calculations for the expected electricity production be presented in a more comprehensible manner. According to the press release, it is concerned with whether the annual production will exceed the threshold value of 20 gigawatt hours and whether the plant is therefore considered a project of national interest.

The municipal council also criticizes the fact that no landscape conservation measures are planned for the Hitzkirch area. It proposes planting hedges to make the wind turbines less visible and wants financial compensation. The municipal council is also calling for additional hydrological clarifications.
