Federal Councillor Albert Rösti feels at home in the Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC). He said this in an interview with the platform nau.ch after being asked about a move to the Department of Defense.

"We have very important projects at the Uvek. A lot has been initiated, but not yet implemented," said Rösti in the video posted on nau.ch on Thursday. There are still a lot of challenges ahead and he feels comfortable in the Uvek. The Federal Council will decide on the distribution of departments as soon as the new member has been elected.

Rösti's party, the SVP, had criticized Amherd's work at the head of the Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) at the weekend and called for Amherd's resignation. Amherd had set the wrong priorities for the army, wrote the SVP. Members of parliament from the center immediately countered.

Following Amherd's resignation announcement on Wednesday, the Greens demanded that the SVP follow up its announcements with action and take responsibility for the defense department. SVP Economics Minister Guy Parmelin previously headed this department. Rösti, on the other hand, has been head of the Federal Department of Defense since the beginning of his time in the Federal Council a good two years ago.
