On Monday, the Nidwalden cantonal police stopped a heavily intoxicated driver of an articulated truck on the A2 highway near Buochs NW. The police determined that the driver had a blood alcohol level of more than one milligram per liter.

The driver will be reported to the public prosecutor's office, the cantonal police announced. He had to pay a fine deposit. He was also given a temporary driving ban for Switzerland.

A road user had reported the driver's very conspicuous driving style to the police on the A2 heading south. A police patrol carried out a check on the driver at around 10.30 a.m. at the Buochs exit
