Bern Drinking water in Orvin is contaminated - bacteria found

Bacteria have been found in the drinking water of the municipality of Orvin above Biel/Bienne. The canton of Bern is therefore calling on the population of this municipality not to use untreated drinking water for drinking, cooking or washing.

Only boiled drinking water may be used for drinking or cooking, the canton of Bern wrote in a message on the federal government's "Alertswiss" warning application on Tuesday evening.

The municipality of Orvin also warns against the use of unboiled water on its website. It writes that the instructions apply until further notice.
