Taxes Deadline for filing tax returns in Basel-Stadt extended

The canton of Basel-Stadt has extended the deadline for submitting tax returns from the end of September to the end of October. The reason for this is the necessary new registration in the ePortal, as announced by the Basel Department of Finance on Monday.

As usual, the submission deadline for the 2023 tax return could be extended free of charge until September 30. The tax administration is suspending the reminder procedure until the end of October so that there is enough time to re-register via the federal government's AGOV login, which is necessary for submitting the tax return. Reminders will therefore not be sent.

Some users are dependent on support for re-registration and the associated identification, it is said. The changeover effort was underestimated by the canton and will take longer than originally planned.
