The cantons of Central Switzerland want to strengthen nursing training with eleven projects. Among other things, training to become a nursing specialist at a higher technical college should also be possible as a part-time course in future.

This means that people with family commitments or financial restrictions will also be able to complete the HF nursing course, as announced by the Bildungszentrum Gesundheit Zentralschweiz (Xund) on Tuesday. Until now, the lack of a course of study has represented a "gap in provision".

Further projects are intended to make it easier to start training, reduce the number of students dropping out and promote pedagogical and didactic innovations, according to the statement. In future, for example, there will be a specialist office for training advice and an advisory service for lateral entrants.

The eleven projects developed by Xund cost CHF 4.9 million, according to the statement. The federal government will contribute a maximum of half. The projects have not yet been approved by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation. The political processes have also not yet been completed in all the cantons of Central Switzerland.
