Traffic accident Cell phone alerts the emergency services after car accident in Lugnez

A motorist left the road in the middle of the night on Tuesday in Lugnez GR and fell 80 meters down a steep slope. The 23-year-old was injured. His cell phone automatically alerted the emergency services.

"Due to the vibrations, his cell phone automatically triggered an emergency call, whereupon the emergency services were called out by the operations center," reported the cantonal police of Graubünden. A Rega helicopter flew the injured man to the Cantonal Hospital of Graubünden in Chur.

A pioneer team from the fire department secured the badly damaged vehicle to prevent it from crashing further. It was recovered later in the day by a towing service.
