The Canton of Bern and Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) inaugurated the renovated BFH site for automotive and vehicle technology in Vauffelin on Friday. The laboratories and classrooms have been extensively renovated and extended by one floor, as announced by the Canton of Bern.

This extension creates "urgently needed additional space" for the increasing number of students and guests on the site. In addition, the premises now meet current safety and energy standards, the canton added.

The costs for the renovation amount to 10.2 million Swiss francs. All work was completed on schedule within two school semesters, largely without interrupting school operations.

"Ready for further cooperation"

The ceremony was hosted by BFH Rector Sebastian Wörwag and Peter Affolter, Head of Automotive and Vehicle Technology, as well as Cantonal Councillor Christoph Neuhaus. Thanks to the renovation, the Vauffelin site is now "ready for further cooperation with national industrial and economic partners", said the Director of Construction and Transport.

The Bern University of Applied Sciences trains engineers specializing in automotive and vehicle technology in Vauffelin in the canton of Bern. According to the canton of Berne, it is the only Swiss educational institution with this specialization.
