A 34-year-old man was injured in an attempted robbery on the Grosse Schanze in Bern early on Wednesday morning. He had to be taken to hospital.

Shortly after six o'clock in the morning, the man was on his way to the lifts on the Grosse Schanze in the direction of the train station. He was approached by another man. According to the police, the man demanded valuables and attacked his victim.

The 34-year-old was injured in the ensuing altercation. The alleged perpetrator was stopped and taken to a police station for further investigation. The police are looking for witnesses, as they wrote in a statement on Wednesday.
