The Swiss stock exchange SIX has appointed a new head for the Spanish stock exchange BME, which is owned by SIX. Juan Flames will take over the position of "Head BME Exchanges" and "CEO BME" in mid-November.

Flames succeeds Javier Hernani. As a member of the SIX Group Executive Board, he will in future concentrate on the Securities Services business unit, according to a press release issued on Tuesday. Hernani will also remain a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish BME.

Flames currently works for Barclays Bank Europe in Madrid as Head of Capital Markets. Prior to that, he worked at Goldman Sachs in London for more than a decade.
