Severe weather Bathing banned in the Maggia and parts of Lake Maggiore

Swimming in the Maggia and parts of Lake Maggiore is prohibited as a result of the heavy storms last weekend. This was announced by the Ticino emergency services on Thursday.

Bathing in Lake Maggiore is therefore prohibited wherever debris and wood has been washed up by the storm. The areas in Locarno, Ascona and Tenero are specifically affected.

A lifting of the ban will only be considered after ongoing analyses by the cantonal laboratory have been completed, it was said.
