A suspicious package possibly containing explosives was discovered in Geneva on Wednesday morning. The police launched a large-scale operation. The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG) announced that it had taken over the case.

At the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency, the Office of the Attorney General announced that the suspicious package had been discovered in a building at Rue de la Corraterie 26. It confirmed a report by Léman Bleu and 20 Minutes.

Rue de la Corraterie is located in the center of Geneva, on the edge of the banking district. "Due to the probable presence of explosives", the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland and the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol) were informed. Investigations are underway to determine the origin and exact nature of the contents of the package, it added.
