Train manufacturer Stadler Rail is supplying up to 24 battery-powered multiple-unit trains to Denmark. The railroad company Lokaltog has signed a contract for the purchase of 14 Flirt trains with the option to order ten more.

The new trains are to be delivered in 2028, as the eastern Swiss company announced on Tuesday. They will be used in the Danish region of Zealand on the Tølløsebanen and Østbanen lines. There is also the possibility of having them run on the Lollandsbanen and Odsherredsbanen routes, it added. Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
