In the case of the failed extortion of the family of ex-Formula 1 racing driver Michael Schumacher, the judiciary has found all three defendants guilty. The main defendant was sentenced to three years in prison for attempted blackmail by the district court in Wuppertal, while his son received a six-month suspended sentence. A former security employee of the family was sentenced to two years' probation for aiding and abetting blackmail.
