In the near future, SBB will be replacing the platform displays at 113 small stations with so-called Smart Information Displays. These are large screens on which travelers not only see the departure platform of their train, but also receive further information.

As SBB announced on Wednesday, these touchscreens provide real-time information on timetable changes due to disruptions, for example. They are already in use at numerous stations and also provide information to people with visual, hearing and walking impairments.

This is because, for example, the font size on the screens can be enlarged or the information read aloud at the touch of a button.

At around twenty small stations in Switzerland, SBB will be installing new platform displays. They are suspended above the platforms and show when the train is due to depart in white lettering on a blue background.

The reason for these changes is that SBB wants to standardize customer information at small stations. Whether a small station gets a new platform display or a new touchscreen depends on the number of passengers and the connections offered.

Yellow departure posters and loudspeakers will continue to be used at all stations to provide passengers with information.
