Last year, even more SBB trains arrived at stations on time than in the previous year. According to a statement issued by SBB on Monday, 93.2 percent of all trains reached their destination on time.

This is 0.7 percent more than in 2023. According to the press release, SBB achieved the greatest increase in punctuality in Western Switzerland (+2.7 percent to 91.9 percent of all trains). The adjustments to timetable times at the timetable change in 2023 had paid off. In Ticino, SBB even achieved an all-time high of 92.6%. Punctuality was 2.1 percentage points higher than the previous year, according to the report.

SBB had to report a deterioration in freight traffic. Punctuality fell by 1.8 percent to 88 percent. The decline was due to a change in IT systems as well as challenges on the Gotthard axis, the decreasing reliability of old locomotives and staff shortages.
