Russia launched 55 satellites into space on Tuesday using a Soyuz rocket from the Vostochny space center in Russia's Far East. These included two satellites from Iran, according to the Russian space agency Roskosmos.

Never before have so many Russian satellites been launched into space at once, Roskosmos explained. According to the information, the Iranian satellites are the Koswar and Hodhod earth observation and communication satellites, which were developed and built by the Iranian company Omid Faza. According to information from Tehran, this is the first time that Russia has sent Iranian satellites built by a private company into space.

Russia maintains close relations with Iran. Since the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine, Moscow and Tehran have further strengthened their political, economic and military cooperation.
