The energy supplier Romande Energie is forcing a change at the top of the company. Group CEO Christian Petit is stepping down a few months earlier than planned. This is intended to clear the way for "new impetus".

The Board of Directors and Petit came to this decision by mutual agreement, Romande Energie announced on Wednesday. This is because they believe that, following the transformation to a full-service energy company, new impetus is needed to move on to the next stage.

The early departure of the CEO will facilitate this transition, the press release continued. Petit is also thanked in the press release "for the decisive impetus", as well as for his achievements in the past.

Chairman must step up again

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Board of Directors Guy Mustaki will stand for re-election at the next Annual General Meeting "on behalf of the Board of Directors". He is to oversee the process of appointing the new CEO and support the implementation of the business plan.

Mustaki had actually planned to retire from the Board of Directors in May 2025. He has been a member of Romande Energie's supervisory body for 20 years - 19 of them as Chairman.

Patrick Bertschy has been appointed interim CEO of Romande Energie until the new boss is appointed. Bertschy is the head of the grid division. Bertschy and Petit will work together in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth handover.
