For years, a 62-year-old man is alleged to have repeatedly sexually assaulted young male teenagers. On Tuesday, he stood trial in Zurich district court on six counts. The verdict will be delivered in the late afternoon.

The man has been convicted and punished several times in the past. He was banned from working with children and young people on several occasions. Again and again he committed new offenses. This even happened while the current proceedings were already underway. This case involves six young people between the ages of 14 and 17.

He always proceeded in the same way: On a train, he sat down next to a very young-looking teenager and put his jacket over himself so that the lap of the person sitting next to him was also covered. He reached over under this screen.

According to the indictment, he stroked the boy's thigh and then let his hand wander towards his genitals until it was pushed away from the victim. In one case, he reached into the boy's trousers, who was rigid and defenseless from shock and disgust. This made him guilty of defilement.

Habit of touching people

Before the district court, the accused father denied this assault. However, he admitted that he had touched the "so-called injured parties", as he put it, over their clothes. He had "a habit of touching people". Today he recognizes his mistakes and promises "that this will never happen again".

The public prosecutor demanded a guilty verdict for defilement, multiple sexual acts with children, some of which were attempted, and pornography. He demanded an unconditional prison sentence of 40 months, inpatient treatment and a ban on working. In addition, the man from Sri Lanka should be banned from the country for six years - with validity throughout the Schengen area.

According to the defense lawyer, the desecration never took place. His client is only guilty of multiple partially attempted sexual acts and sexual harassment. A conditional prison sentence of 13 months and a fine were appropriate. An outpatient measure should be ordered and a ban from the country should be waived. His client should be released from preventive detention immediately.
