South Korea's capital Seoul has recorded the biggest November snowfall since weather records began over 100 years ago. According to the weather service, 16 centimetres of fresh snow had fallen in the metropolis as of Wednesday afternoon.

As Yonhap reported, at least 150 flights had to be canceled nationwide. In Seoul, more than 200 households were temporarily without power.

According to local media reports, at least two people died in weather-related traffic accidents on Wednesday. In addition, another man from the northern province of Gyeonggi died in an accident after his garage collapsed under the weight of the snow.

President Yoon Suk Yeol instructed the Ministry of Security and Transport to mobilize all available personnel to clear the snow in order to reduce the risk of traffic accidents and congestion.

The Korean Meteorological Agency expects the snow and rain to continue until Thursday noon local time.
