Rare snowfall has covered vast areas of desert in Saudi Arabia in a blanket of white. The country has seen heavy rain and hail in the western province of Al-Jaaf, which borders Jordan, the state agency SPA reported.

Over the past few days, photos and videos of areas covered in white, which are otherwise known for their sand-colored desert, have been making the rounds on social networks. One user wrote about one of the photos on X that, at first glance, you might think the pictures were taken in Europe and not in Saudi Arabia.

In some cases, flooding after heavy hail could also be seen.
