The Finance Minister traveled to eastern Switzerland accompanied by a large delegation. Keller-Sutter will succeed Federal Councillor Viola Amherd (center) as President of the Swiss Confederation in 2025.

Schoolchildren, the town tambourines and the traditional costume group from Wil accompanied Keller-Sutter on her way from the train station to the old town three days before her 61st birthday.

In addition to speeches by Susanne Hartmann, President of the Cantonal Government of St. Gallen, Federal Councillor Amherd and Keller-Sutter herself, the public celebration for the population also included a performance by Toggenburg singer Remo Forrer.

The Swiss parliament elected Keller Sutter as President of the Confederation on December 11. 40 years after Kurt Furgler (CVP), this is the first time that a person from the canton of St. Gallen has held this office.
