The outgoing head of Swiss Post, Roberto Cirillo, has criticized the way politics has become bogged down. Instead of focusing on core issues, the focus is on side issues, as he said in an interview with Tamedia.

"Politicians must deal with the core issues of the basic postal service," said Cirillo in the interview published on Saturday. But instead, politicians are spending a lot of energy on side issues. These are of no long-term benefit to the population or the economy, but cause a lot of effort, said Cirillo.
Politicians have not stood in the way of his work. "The impression is wrong that politics has prevented any of my projects," said the 53-year-old. He described his collaboration with the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications as "always fruitful".
Cirillo announced on Friday that he would be stepping down as CEO at the end of March. "Being head of Swiss Post is not an everyday position," he said in an interview. Anyone who holds this position is exposed to a great deal of stress. He had noticed signs of wear and tear on himself. He does not yet know where he will go after Swiss Post "I am convinced that I will find a new job," he said.
