Between Black Friday on November 29 and Christmas, Swiss Post expects to receive up to one million parcels on individual days. It is therefore employing around 500 temporary staff, increasing delivery rounds and running the sorting machines at full speed,

On normal days, the 14 parcel centers process around 600,000 parcels, as Swiss Post announced on Thursday. In order to cope with the upcoming parcel peak season, it is planning more than 350 additional delivery rounds per day in the run-up to Christmas. Letters also have to reach their recipients on time.

During this period, the sorting machines in the largest parcel centers run 22 hours a day instead of the usual 18, and in some cases even on Saturdays. The employees are being supported by 500 temporary workers.

As every year, Swiss Post is working closely with the largest online retailers. It organizes additional pick-up tours and clarifies when particularly large parcel volumes occur in which regions.
