Princess Kate (42) is taking part in an important royal event. The daughter-in-law of King Charles III announced two months ago that she had finished her chemotherapy.

This weekend, she is now set to take part in Remembrance Sunday, as the palace announced. The UK commemorates those who died in the Great War.

Together with King Charles (75) and her husband, heir to the throne Prince William (42), she is to attend an event at London's Royal Albert Hall on Saturday. On Sunday, Kate will attend the central commemoration in the government district of the British capital.

Remembrance Sunday, which commemorates the fallen of the world wars, is one of the most important days of remembrance in the royal calendar and in Great Britain. Many British men and women already wear pins with a poppy motif on their clothing in the days leading up to the day.

Why Camilla's participation is still uncertain

According to the British news agency PA, this is the first time Kate has appeared in public on two consecutive days. It is still unclear whether Charles' wife Queen Camilla (77) will attend. She recently canceled several appointments due to a respiratory infection. Her participation depends on the medical assessment, according to the palace.

Britain's royal family has had to cope with several cancer diagnoses this year. In addition to Kate, King Charles also made a cancer diagnosis public. No details were given in either case. Kate announced in a video in September that she had finished chemotherapy.

In October, she and her husband met people affected by a knife attack in Southport, England. An attacker had stabbed three girls there. The two royals met the families of the children, among others.

Kate had withdrawn from the public eye for months after the diagnosis - in the summer she appeared for the first time at a military parade and at the tennis tournament in Wimbledon.
