In it, Mohammadi describes how the protest slogan "Woman, Life, Freedom" was chanted in the prison when it became known that she had received the prize. According to her lawyer, Mohammadi was temporarily released from prison last week for medical reasons.

She had been imprisoned in Iran since November 2021. Mohammadi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023, but was unable to accept it in person due to her imprisonment.

Mohammadi has spent much of the past decade in prison. She has been repeatedly convicted and imprisoned over the past 25 years for her campaigning against the obligation for women to wear headscarves and against the death penalty.
