The Visletto bridge, which was swept away by the floods, is to be replaced by a temporary bridge. It is still unclear when this will be ready, the Ticino crisis management team explained to the media on Thursday.
The foundations must be laid first, explained military commander Maurzio Dattrino in Locarno. "It normally takes a full year to build a bridge," he warned. They are currently working almost around the clock to plan a temporary bridge.

Since Wednesday, cars that are not too heavy or too wide have been temporarily allowed to cross the reinforced cycle bridge. This is located below the car bridge. Emergency vehicles are primarily permitted.
