The National Council will discuss the counter-financing of higher army expenditure in detail. On Wednesday, it approved all five federal resolutions on the 2024 Armed Forces Dispatch.

By 167 votes to 23, the large chamber also voted in favour of the army's payment framework for the years 2025 to 2028, despite the fact that the preliminary committee was unable to agree on a solution to the issue of counter-financing, which resulted in a motion not to enter parliament.

Only the Greens voted against the motion. Specifically, the Council of States as well as the SVP, FDP and Mitte want to spend four billion francs more on the army by 2028 than the Federal Council had proposed. This would amount to a total of CHF 29.8 billion. It is disputed whether the additional expenditure should be compensated for in other areas or whether a fund should be created for this purpose.
