In 2002, three tourists disappeared in an avalanche on Peru's highest mountain.
One body has already been identified, now the second has been found - including climbing equipment.
There is still no trace of the remains of the third climber.
He disappeared in 2002 after an avalanche on the Nevado Huascarán mountain in the north-central part of the country, according to several media reports citing the police.
The remains, which were found at an altitude of 5,200 meters on Friday last week and identified today, still had intact climbing equipment such as boots with crampons, climbing harnesses and safety ropes, as can be seen in pictures. A driver's license was also found.
In June 2002, an avalanche buried three tourists on the snow-covered mountain, as the newspaper "La República" reported, citing a local tour operator. The first body was found and identified two years ago, followed by the second. There is still no trace of the remains of the third climber.
The Nevado Huascarán is the highest mountain in Peru at a height of 6,768 meters. The national park of the same name is a popular excursion destination and one of the most important nature reserves in the country, as it protects one of the areas with the greatest biological and cultural diversity in Peru.
