Luxembourg-based HomeToGo SE announced on Tuesday evening that it was in "non-exclusive talks about the acquisition of the Interhome Group from Migros as part of an auction process". This is the listed parent company of the Berlin-based company of the same name, which, like Interhome, brokers vacation homes and apartments.
However, talks and the due diligence process are still ongoing, according to the press release. There is therefore "no guarantee that a potential transaction will be proposed or carried out", the company added.
However, as a Migros spokesperson emphasized, the company is not only in talks with HomeToGo. "Talks are currently taking place with several potential interested parties," she said, including those interested in Hotelplan as a whole. She also stated that Migros was "making good progress" with the sale and that Hotelplan was meeting with "great interest". It had recently been reported that Migros wanted to find a buyer for Hotelplan by the end of the year.
Migros is known to be selling off various subsidiaries under its boss Mario Irminger in order to regain a stronger financial footing. One of the companies it is putting up for sale is the travel subsidiary Hotelplan. Interhome, in turn, is a subsidiary of Hotelplan. The platform specializes in the rental of vacation homes, apartments and chalets from (mostly private) owners.
Founded in 1965, the company reported a turnover of CHF 371 million in 2022 with 15 national companies and brokered 9 million overnight stays.
