If you want to earn a lot as a manager, you have to work in the financial sector. According to the latest salary trend study by Michael Page, this is where the highest salaries are paid. However, several sectors performed well in terms of salary increases last year.

Specifically, heads in private banking, CFOs at multinational companies and investment managers at banks, for example, achieved the highest salaries of up to CHF 500,000, according to the salary survey published by HR consultant Michael Page on Wednesday. However, managers in human resources are also well paid.
Meanwhile, metal traders (+25%), tax lawyers (+20%) and multilingual sales managers (+18%) have enjoyed substantial pay rises over the past twelve months. The considerable fluctuations on the commodities markets have enabled traders to increase profits, legal experts are in demand due to the weakening economy and companies are expanding their sales teams in order to increase turnover, according to the experts.
Demand for specialists in sales and IT
Further pay rises in the double-digit range were reported in the financial sector, for compliance officers, accountants and in key roles in the insurance industry.
There is generally strong demand for specialists in critical areas such as IT who focus on cost savings and process optimization. Candidates who can help overcome business challenges and achieve sales targets are also in demand, adds Yannick Coulange, Managing Director of Michael Page Switzerland.
Otherwise, given the current situation, employers are rather cautious when it comes to the number of employees and salaries. At the same time, applicants are also reluctant to start a new job in an uncertain environment.
