The White House has officially confirmed US President Joe Biden's visit to Germany this week. He will travel to Berlin tomorrow, the government headquarters in Washington announced. Biden had had to postpone the visit due to Hurricane Milton in the USA. His originally planned visit to Angola was postponed until December. In Berlin, Biden will meet with Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, among others.

White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre emphasized the close cooperation between Biden and Scholz. She particularly emphasized the joint support for Ukraine.

The visit to Berlin is Biden's first bilateral visit to Germany during his term of office. Originally, a stop at the US airbase in Ramstein was also planned in order to chair a conference on Ukraine. Whether - and if so, when - this will take place at a later date has so far been left open by the White House. Instead, several meetings will now take place in Berlin on Friday before Biden flies back to the USA.
